Valves

Types of Valves Provided by Midway Engineering

As we know, valves are vital components used extensively in any industrial setup to regulate the flow of gases, liquids or semi-solid materials like slurries. These are connected between two pipes from where they can control the quality of the material to be passed to the next line of pipes. Valves achieve the control of flow by opening, closing
or partially closing the way of the material through pipes.

There are many types of the valves used in various types of industries such as Steam Valve, butterfly valve, ball valve, globe valve and gate valve. At Midway Engineering and Controls

Ball Valve – Ball valve is the basic type of valve with a round disk just like a ball. This ball is the prime part of the valve that actually controls the stream of the objects passing through it. The ball has a hole at the middle point and the flow control is achieved by rotating the ball to open or close the hole.

Butterfly Valve – This type of valve is basically used for isolating and/or regulating the flow of material through it. The principal of the working of butterfly valve is similar to the ball valve where a disk operates as a controller of the flow.

Globe Valve – This is a type of valve consisting of, again a disk like component along with a stable ring fit inside a spherical type of body. These valves are named so because of their round shaped body.

Gate Valve – These are also known as sluice valve in which the opening or closing of the valve is achieved by lifting the gate which is generally of square or rectangle shape. These types of valves are installed in the path of the flow of liquid to control its quantity of the flow.

Steam Valve – These are also known as piston type of valves and are basically used to control the flow of steam in the pipes.
